UPDATES // Saturday, October 18, 2008 A few announcements, the Company list should be available soon and photo shoots have been scheduled for Thrusday, October 23 so please plan accordingly. Lecture-demonstrations start 8:30am on Monday at Brookstone. Check the board to sign up for the next lecture-demonstrations that start on October 28 and go until the Nutcracker performances. Check the listing often as new ones get added periodically. We ask that you sign up for at least sign up for one day, especially company dancers although anyone in the cast is welcome to participate. NUTCRACKER AUDITIONS // Thursday, August 21, 2008 Columbus Ballet is having auditions for its performance of The Nutcracker on Saturday, August 23, 2008. Actors and dancers in the valley area are asked to audition. Boys, girls, men and women are invited to participate. No audition fee. Auditions will be held at 12:00pm for ages 7 to 11 and at 2:30pm for ages 12 to adult on the second floor of the Rankin Arts building. NEW SEASON ANNOUNCED // Thursday, June 12, 2008 Columbus Ballet and St. Franics Hospital are very proud to present its 2008-2009 season: The Nutcracker (w/Columbus Ballet Orchestra) Follow Clara as she journeys through a land of dreams, magical effects, colorful costumes and exciting dancing. This holiday treat is directed by Columbus Ballet’s Artistic Director David Herriott with Tchaikovsky’s classic score being played by the Columbus Ballet Orchestra under the baton of Andre Gaskins. Columbus Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty Enter a world of enchantment with this fairy tale classic full of charming princesses, courageous knights, and a wicked fairy. This “happy ever after” is highlighted with a wedding for the Prince and Princess including many wonderful guests and featuring a lifting score by Tchaikovsky that will awaken the magic in everyone. Russian National Ballet’s Don Quixote This full length ballet is performed by the Russian National Ballet Theatre, a company of 50 dancers based in St. Petersburg, Russia. The story concerns a love triangle between a foppish old knight, a beautiful girl, and a young barber. Choreographed by Marius Petipa to the music of Ludwig Minkus it is directed by Sergei Radchenko. Sponsored by St. Francis Hospital. *Season Extra: Ronald K. Brown - Evidence* Ronald K. Brown/Evidence blends African, modern, ballet and hip-hop dance styles to provide a unique view of human struggles, tragedies and triumphs. One Shot is a work inspired by the beauty, sense of community and legacy captured in the photographs of noted African American photojournalist Charles “Teenie” Harris.
